Website Design Process

These are the main stages to creating your web presence:

Registering a domain name

How to choose your domain name (URL): It can be quite simple if you are in a niche market such as www.widgets.co.uk or if your ideal name has gone, add the locality - perhaps widgitsinyorkshire.co.uk. If these have gone you have to think of the search terms your customers would use when searching for your product or service. Avoid using dots and dashes in the name as these are easily forgotten. When you have found a suitable name we will check the availability and price and if it is acceptable we will register it for you.

Content

We will work with you to create a site map. We need to know roughly how many pages you want on your website.
A good starting point is: Home page, About Us, Products or Services and Contact Us.

Design

We can then start to design, using proven strategy and providing you with mock-ups for your approval at key stages and, with your input; we work our way up to a final layout. Using the right navigation, images and copy which will keep viewers on your website for longer.

Construction

Having decided on the layout we then proceed with the construction using the web standards outlined by the W3C to ensure your website will be easily accessible to all users and the search engines.

Testing

We then test your website in various web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. The data used to create a website does not appear the same on different browsers.

Hosting

Once constructed your website needs to be hosted on a server and uploaded to the world wide web. We use an established and trusted secure server hosting company to keep you on-line constantly. One years hosting starts at £55. The smaller your site is, the less it will cost. See our prices page for costings.

After care

We provide an aftercare service to keep your website up and running and to make any changes or updates for you as needed. Small changes, such as replacing an image or changing a few paragraphs of text are always free. For more frequent changes we will work out the best maintenance package for you. Please visit our maintenance packages page for details.
